Our methodology

At Go Flourish, we believe that gardens are more than just outdoor spaces— they are powerful learning environments that nurture the whole child. Our spaces are exceptional and our methods are ground breaking.

Redefining education through outdoor learning

A new way of learning starts here

Our gardens are vibrant hubs of biodiversity, beauty, and productivity, seamlessly integrated into school life.
Every Go Flourish garden comes with a dedicated teacher to ensure that every student, in every subject, benefits from the hands-on experiences these living classrooms provide.

We've teamed up with the Highland Council to find the perfect spot for our first garden at North Kessock primary school in Inverness. From the start, we've worked closely with the school staff to build trust and create strong partnerships. Together, we're shaping and refining this approach, making sure it works for everyone.

‘If we can see changes in vulnerabilities in children, this pays huge dividends.’

We’re working toward national policy change that makes school gardens a fundamental part of every child's education.

We are doing this by demonstrating the profound impact of gardens on student achievement, mental health, and community strength, Together, we can address the root causes of the challenges in today’s education system, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to flourish.

‘I get to do new experiences.
I learn skills that can be used
at school and in my life too.
When I am there, I feel
relaxed and calm outside.’

In order to track and measure the impact of the Go Flourish garden on both the students and the school’s overall learning environment, we’re collaborating with St Andrews University’s School of Psychology and Neuroscience.

Over the next three years, we’ll gather meaningful evidence that shows how this initiative improves students’ mental health, boosts their academic performance, and positively impacts teachers and the local community. Our goal is to prove that this approach is not only transformative but also cost-effective in the long run.
